The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is on the lookout for a dynamic and dedicated individual to fill the role of Budget and Reporting Manager.
This position is based in Abuja and serves as the main point of contact for IRC Nigeria’s financial reporting related to budgets and grants.

This role involves managing daily budgeting and grant reporting functions to maintain seamless operations. A key responsibility will be to ensure the development of donor budgets in alignment with both IRC standards and specific donor requirements, all while adhering to strict timelines.
Furthermore, the Budget and Reporting Manager will tackle any budget and grants management issues swiftly and effectively. You will ensure compliance with donor regulations and IRC policies throughout the implementation of grants.
Timely submission of donor financial reports will be paramount, along with the creation of user-friendly budget tools that facilitate effective financial planning and analysis.
Additionally, you will be responsible for providing training and support to team members, enabling the budgeting and reporting functions to operate at peak efficiency.

Responsibilities:
- The Budget and Reporting Manager will assist in preparing the Nigeria Fiscal Year Country Operating Budget by the IRC standard format for the Deputy Director of Finance’s final approval before submission.
- Assistance in maintaining the country-operating budget’s regular updates and availability as a management tool for the creation of new proposal budgets, as well as during periods of rapid program reduction and expansion.
- Budgets for new proposals should be prepared and consolidated, and existing budgets should be revised to ensure that all expenditures are covered and not under or over budget. Additionally, the IRC and donor budget standard templates should be used correctly, and they should be linked to the donor template.
- Create the new budget category code (D2 codes), search for new grant codes, and upload the data into Integra.
- Collaborates with designated budget holders and SPC calculation projections to create and revise spending plans for all active grants.
- Compare budgeted spending to actual spending and spending plans, and inform the appropriate staff of the state of spending. Ask budget holders for their opinions on every overspending and underspending.
- Take part in the monthly BVA panel, share spending analysis with grant recipients, and follow up on action items that were discussed during grant meetings.
- Attend the Grant Closing Meetings, Project Implementation Meetings (PIM), and Grant Opening Meetings and offer suggestions and assistance.
- Assist Operations and Program Managers with any inquiries they may have about the BvA reports.
- Provide the necessary adjustment entries for the BvA reports and grant financial reports by donor regulations and the IRC standards.
- Create grant external donor financial reports that the deputy director of grants and finance will review and approve domestically before submitting. As required by internal and external contractual obligations, make sure reports adhere to the donor reporting template and are filed on time.
- Review real charges transactions and offer guidance on important donor compliance requirements in coordination with the Grants Unit.
- For the Deputy Director of Finance’s final evaluation and approval, provide analysis and recommendations on staff coverage, salary mapping, and Shared Program Cost (SPC) coverage and allocations.
- Analyze grant expenditure plans and compare them to actual spending.
- Help the Deputy Director of Finance lead staff training and induction sessions on budgeting and reporting themes, including Budget management, review grant actuals, and reports, etc., for Program, Operations, Finance, and Nigeria Field Offices staff.
- Increase the planning and reporting financial team’s capacity When necessary, collaborate closely with the team to increase their capacity in these areas.
- Able to impart knowledge about proposals, realignments, and donor reports.
- Reconciliation with the accounting system and financial report tool.
- Working creation of the budget and periodic modifications.
Qualifications:
HND or a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance is required.
At least five years of increasing experience in financial reporting and budgeting at a non-profit
Experience working with key funders such as the EU Trust Fund, SIDA, CAD, BHA, USAID, OFDA, FCDO, UK Aid, and ECHO
Strong analytical abilities to enable rational and well-thought-out budgetary decisions
Proficiency in working remotely to assist employees.
Outstanding communication skills both in writing and speaking, including the capacity to address audiences of all sizes.
Self-starter who can work both individually and collaboratively.
Proven capacity to prioritize several tasks and perform well under pressure
Willing to journey throughout Nigeria.
Diligent and focused on the details. Capable of handling demands from various sources and multitasking
English proficiency
