The Dorcas McClean Scholarship is available to both domestic and foreign students. It backs talented violinists looking for financial assistance for their education.
You will benefit from a one-off payment which will take care of your educational expenses. With a maximum value of $40,000, the Dorcas McClean Scholarship helps you get admitted to a recognized university.
To qualify, you must have resided in Australia for at least two years before the competition date and be between the ages of 17 and 25.
Only those who have been shortlisted will be evaluated through a competitive process that takes place over several days at the Southbank Campus.
Scholarship Breakdown:
- The study areas are music, visual, and performing arts
- You qualify to apply if you are a domestic or international student
- Supports Undergraduate and graduate coursework and research studies.
- Applications start on 25 Apr 2024 and close on 12 Aug 2024.
Dorcas McClean Scholarship Qualification:
- You must be a current graduate or undergraduate of the University of Melbourne.
- You must be eligible for entry to a course of study at a facility approved by the academic board of the university, or be supervised by a teacher who has been approved.
- Have lived in Australia before February 2, 2025, for a minimum of two years.
- You must be a violinist by February 2, 2025, between the ages of 17 and 25
How Applicants Will Be Selected?
- First, you submit an online entry of a master recording of the designated repertory.
- Secondly, your submitted work will be evaluated by a group of well-known Australian violinists.
- Finally, an international panel of violinists will evaluate your submitted work.
Benefits of the Scholarship:
- The amount you will receive as support for your studies ranges between $5,000 to $40,000
- If it turns out you are the runner-up, you will be awarded an amount of $10,000
- The third-placed applicant will be awarded $5,000
