This program, generously supported by the Ford Foundation and the West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI), will be running from January to June 2025. If you have a passion for leveraging technology to create a positive social impact, then we encourage you to apply.
The primary aim of this internship program is to provide young West Africans with valuable work experience in WACSI’s key areas of operation. Whether you are a recent graduate or an early career professional, this program is tailored to meet your needs.
During the six-month internship, you will be fully immersed in WACSI’s activities, allowing you to actively participate in various events while honing your leadership skills and deepening your knowledge of program management and critical development challenges in West Africa.
Recognizing the need for structured and hands-on capacity building for young West Africans, the WACSI Next Generation Internship Program was established.
In addition to receiving a monthly salary, selected interns will benefit from comprehensive financial support, including airfare to and from their home country, furnished housing, and daily lunch during working days, among other perks.

About the West Africa Civil Society Institute:
The Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) has set up the West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) to enhance the organizational and operational capacities of civil society in the region.
WACSI serves as a hub for political discussions, sharing of best practices, providing training, and conducting research and documentation specifically tailored for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in West Africa.
Requirements:
The following requirements must be fulfilled to be eligible for the WASCI Internship:
Possess a first degree in development studies, public policy, international affairs, political science, law, or a similar discipline.
Demonstrate an interest in managing non-profit organizations and civil society.
Responsibilities for Interns:
Providing technical assistance, training, and assistance in the development and application of institutional evaluation instruments.
Taking part in the planning and development of program or project proposals both within and across units.
Provide broad program administrative support, tracking, budget monitoring, and activity calendar maintenance.
Helping to organize and set up the different training and technical support programs that the Unit has planned.
Acting as a point of contact for WACSI’s partners, affiliates, beneficiaries, and resource people.
Supporting the creation of training materials, including modules, toolkits, and other locally produced training materials.
Conducting research, creating fact sheets and briefings, and writing about ongoing initiatives and activities.
Creating and writing project work plans, reports, idea notes, and other paperwork, including budget proposals, presentations, and training and resource materials.
Perform desktop research on legislative and policy matters.
Help with information collection and report writing for policy meetings
Help with the preparation of workshops and policy meetings
Participate in the creation of a training tool for policy advocacy
Assist with additional administrative duties
Any additional tasks that the unit head may designate
