Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship 2025 Qualification:
- The first PhD program being studied for.
- Not been awarded PhD funding by the SSHRC, NSERC, or CIHR.
- Must have completed the last two years of study with a first-class average.
- Has to be an overseas or Canadian student enrolled in courses in Canada.
- Must be enrolled full-time in a PhD program at a Canadian university.
- Universities holding a Vanier CGS quota must submit a nomination. The new list will be available on July 1.
- Only candidates with joint professional degrees (MD/PhD, DVM/PhD, or JD/PhD) are eligible for financing for PhD tenure.
- Unpaid leave is available to employees of the Canadian federal government.
- You can apply for both agency-specific and Vanier PhD scholarships. If awarded several scholarships, must select only one.
- Full-time enrollment is required. However, in cases of disability or family assistance, part-time enrollment may be permitted with a modified study length calculation.
- A substantial amount of research must be included in the research proposal.
- Cannot hold an academic position at a university with a Vanier quota or any other organization without permission to get a PhD.

- Institutional Deadline: The institution itself determines the internal application deadline for each Canadian institution. The candidate will be able to see this deadline on ResearchNet after choosing the university. The application deadline established by the applicant’s selected school must be followed.
