The Amelia Earhart Fellowship, established in 1938 by Zonta International, is a prestigious award that pays homage to the trailblazing aviator and Zonta native, Amelia Earhart.
Every year, this esteemed fellowship is bestowed upon 35 exceptional women from diverse global backgrounds who are dedicated to pursuing Ph. D.s or doctorates in aerospace-related sciences or engineering.
As recipients of this fellowship, you are provided with a $10,000 grant to bolster your academic pursuits.
Zonta International has a storied history deeply intertwined with progressive change and the empowerment of women. Presently, the organization maintains a global footprint, with over 28,000 members affiliated with more than 1,200 Zonta clubs spanning 61 countries.

Alumni of the Amelia Earhart Fellowship program have gone on to work as astronauts, aerospace engineers, astronomers, geologists, professors, business owners, CEOs, and even as the Secretary of the United States Air Force.
Selection Requirements:
Eligible candidates are women, regardless of nationality, who are pursuing a Ph.D. or doctoral degree in aerospace-applied sciences or aerospace-applied engineering and have a strong academic record.
At the time the application is filed, you must be enrolled full-time in a Ph.D. or doctorate program and have completed at least one year of that program or have earned a master’s degree in an area with aerospace applications.
The Ph.D. or doctoral program shall not be completed by the applicant before April 2024.
Please be aware that the Fellowship is not available for post-doctoral research programs.
The Zonta International Fellowship is not open to members or staff of Zonta International or the Zonta International Foundation.
It should be noted that if you are recipient of past Amelia Earhart Fellowships, you are not qualified to apply for a second-year renewal.

After reviewing the submissions, the Zonta International Amelia Earhart Fellowship Committee will recommend you to the board of directors provided you are selected.
