African researchers are warmly invited to participate in the Center for Effective Global Action’s (CEGA) prestigious Fellowship Program for the years 2025–2026.
This exciting opportunity specifically targets scholars from East and West Africa who are eager to enhance their quantitative social science research skills, particularly in the realm of impact evaluation.
The fellowship comprises a 16-week immersive in-person experience at one of two renowned institutions: Northwestern University, which will host the fellowship in the spring of 2026, or the University of California, Berkeley, offering sessions in both the fall of 2025 and spring of 2026.
Candidates are encouraged to apply to one of three focused research tracks tailored to address critical issues: Youth Livelihoods, Early Childhood Development, and General Development Research. Requirements:
Have excellent communication skills and be competent in both written and spoken English.
Possess a secondary school diploma from an African institution and be from an East or West African nation.
You must have recently earned a Master’s degree or a PhD or is presently enrolled in a PhD program in economics, political science, statistics, epidemiology or public health, education, or another social scientific field, to be considered an early career scholar.
Possess a current position as a staff member or student at an East or West African research institution (university or other research organization), ideally one that promotes quantitative social science research that is pertinent to policy.
