The DAAD In-Country or In-Region program aims to cultivate strong, globally oriented higher education systems in Sub-Saharan Africa to promote sustainable development.
It provides scholarships to individuals seeking to pursue master’s or doctoral degrees in development-related fields and build careers in teaching or research at universities in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The initiative focuses on supporting university staff and addressing the demand for academically qualified professionals in the public sector. The DAAD Scholarship is administered by a private, independent national agency supported by both federal and state governments.
It represents 365 higher education institutions in Germany, including 52 colleges of music and art, 162 general universities of applied sciences, and 100 universities and technical universities.
While it offers competitive, merit-based grants for study or research in Germany at recognized higher education institutions, the DAAD does not provide study programs or courses.
