What Documents are Required for Application?
- Filled out the DAAD online application
- Diploma and transcript from school (with individual grades and a breakdown of the grading method)
- An explanation of the grading scheme (posted on the DAAD portal under the heading “University degree certificates”)
- Certified copies of the transcript and diploma from the university
- Translation, if necessary, of papers into German or English
- Complete resume in tabular format, no more than three pages
- Diploma from the school, complete with all grades
- A one to three-page motivation letter explaining the academic and personal grounds for the intended study project in Germany (uploaded on the DAAD portal’s “study project/motivation” section)
- Admission letter from the German host university (send before funding starts if not available at the time of application)
- A duplicate passport
- For applicants intending to pursue a second or master’s degree in Germany, fill out the “Information about your preferred master programs” form.
- Evidence that credits earned in Germany will be accepted by the home university for candidates who complete a portion of their degree program there
- Evidence of extracurricular involvement, if any
- Valid evidence of language proficiency, such as the TOEFL home edition, IELTS indicator, or TOEFL iBT minimum score of 79 or 6.5
- Provide evidence of your language proficiency through the DAAD site even if your host university doesn’t ask for it.
- A recent reference letter, hand-signed and without digital or scanned signatures, from a university lecturer detailing the applicant’s qualifications
- Certificate of employment, if any
