The Department of Afro-American and African Studies (DAAS) at the University of Michigan is currently accepting applications for the prestigious Du Bois-Mandela-Rodney Postdoctoral Fellowship Program.
This fellowship is open to academics conducting research in the field of Africa or the African diaspora. The program welcomes applicants from diverse fields including social sciences, humanities, and occasionally business, law, urban planning, and other professional schools.
You will benefit from a comprehensive fellowship package valued at $56,000. This includes a $52,000 stipend, health insurance, $3,000 for research and scholarly travel expenses, and up to $1,000 for moving fees to Ann Arbor for the residential period.
Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to be affiliated with DAAS, as well as associated departments and research institutes.
You will be expected to lead a five- or six-week “mini-course” on your research as a DAAS work-in-progress seminar during one of the residential semesters, and present at a colloquium during the academic year.

Requirement for Selection:
- You must be no more than five years past the completion date of your degree and hold a Ph.D. from a school other than the University of Michigan.
- You must have obtained a Ph.D. by January 1, 2020, at the latest, and August 31, 2025, at the latest, in order to be considered for the 2024–25 academic year.
Selection Criteria:
