To foster and promote research and scholarship focused on privacy, the IAPP Westin Fellowship Program was established in 2013.
This initiative aims to define, advance, and enhance the interconnected fields of privacy, artificial intelligence governance, and digital responsibility on a global scale, reflecting the growth and evolution of the IAPP.
Recognized worldwide as a vital hub, the IAPP gathers professionals who navigate the complex intersection of data, technology, and human interaction.
As the information economy increasingly relies on data, the associated risks continue to escalate. Organizations regardless of size or industry now confront a myriad of challenges, including identity theft, data breaches, and a growing erosion of customer trust.
The IAPP provides professionals with the tools and knowledge they need to advance their careers while enabling their organizations to effectively manage these challenges.
By participating in this dynamic community, you can better understand the risks and opportunities that arise in today’s data-driven landscape. You can also apply for the Minorities Fellowship Programme 2025 by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights

It is anticipated that all work will be of the highest caliber, suitable for publication through scholarly or professional channels, and helpful to working privacy professionals.
A doctoral degree is recommended, although a strong academic record and completion of an undergraduate degree from an approved four-year program are prerequisites.

Approval is required for remote work, which is anticipated to stay the same for the life of employment.
In addition to having a solid academic background in one or more relevant fields, you will also have to demonstrate communication skills, a strong interest in privacy, AI governance, and cybersecurity, and a desire to pursue a long-term career path in these areas.

You are welcome to apply from any discipline. It is encouraged if you have prior research, education, or experience in cybersecurity law, AI governance, privacy, or digital law and policy.
