The Shaping Futures Academy is a dialogue and training program designed for early to mid-career professionals from African (Côte d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, Togo, and Zambia) and European countries.
The program aims to bring together like-minded peers to reflect on their roles in their communities and institutions. Its goal is to develop future leaders on both continents who can drive change processes leading to sustainability in current and future environments.
The Academy is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and sponsored by the German Institute for Development and Sustainability (IDOS), with the course being taught in English.

The German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) is located in the UN City of Bonn and is widely recognized as a leading global research institute and think tank dedicated to promoting sustainable development.
Their work is built on the seamless integration of research, policy guidance, and training. IDOS is committed to bridging the gap between theory and practical application.
Their approach to study is centered on real-world application, driven by empirical evidence, and firmly grounded in theory, forming the bedrock of the Institute’s efforts in providing policy advice.

During online modules, you may be eligible for reimbursement to help with the cost of increased internet data.
During in-person modules, IDOS offers housing and a daily living stipend.
You have access to health, liability, and accident insurance while you are visiting Ghana and Germany.
Travel expenses for required vaccinations to Ghana and Germany are reimbursed by IDOS upon request.
You receive a monthly allowance, but to get money, you must create a bank account.
Only participants will receive lodging; guests and family will not be assisted.
A certificate of completion listing all modules completed will be given to participants.
Requirements:
You must be a citizen or long-term resident of one of the participating nations.
You must be aged between 25 and 40.
Work on problems relating to sustainable development and governance.
Possess a minimum of three years of work experience, with non-paid experience accepted.
Possess your employer’s backing, which must be provided in writing as part of the application.
Possess excellent language skills in English, meeting the CEFR’s B2 level requirements.
Show sensitivity to the cultures of others.
Be receptive to diverse perspectives, collaboration, and methods of operation.
Be available to participate for the whole period of the Academy.
