The Borel Global Fellows Program, inaugurated in 2018, was made possible by the generous support of Iowa State University alumni Jim Borel and Marcia Borel.
This innovative initiative, housed within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University, provides invaluable graduate scholarships to aspiring students from Sub-Saharan Africa.
The program is dedicated to empowering these students by transforming them into influential knowledge leaders who will address the critical issues of food and nutrition insecurity in their home regions.
Through this effort, the Borel Global Fellows Program seeks to enhance the well-being and prosperity of subsistence farmers, ultimately fostering a healthier, more sustainable future for communities in Sub-Saharan Africa.
At Iowa State University, a renowned public land-grant institution, students thrive in vibrant academic learning communities that promote excellence.
They actively engage in over 800 student clubs, gaining real-world experience through undergraduate research projects, internships, and enriching study-abroad opportunities.
The curriculum is designed to equip you with insights from leading academics tackling some of the planet’s most pressing challenges, including advancements in manufacturing, the pursuit of alternative fuels, and strategies for alleviating hunger among the underprivileged.
This dynamic environment not only cultivates academic success but also inspires a commitment to making a meaningful impact on global issues.
