Every year, the Society for Underwater Technology grants several scholarships to deserving students.
This is to honor your achievements and offer tailored financial assistance to help you finish your education and launch your career in the field.
The scholarship assists in training you in a wide range of offshore or ocean technology, including renewable energy, underwater robotics, marine and ocean science, and offshore and subsea infrastructure.
You qualify for the scholarship if your past work and future goals reflect your desire to work as an offshore engineer.
You will benefit from networking opportunities and admission to a Society for Underwater Technology short course in addition to the grants.
The multidisciplinary learned society known as the Society for Undersea Technology (SUT) unites groups and individuals who have an interest in offshore engineering, ocean research, and undersea technology
Scholarship Breakdown:
- The scholarship opens at 25th June 2024 and closes on 13th August 2024
- Studies will take place in the United Kingdom
- Supports postgraduate study levels

Benefits of the Scholarship:
- You will enjoy a $5000 Society for Underwater Technology Excellence Scholarship, which covers one complimentary Society for Underwater Technology short course participation. You have to be someone who has excelled in the fields of underwater technology, marine science, and subsea engineering to receive this scholarship.
- You will enjoy a $5,000 scholarship for digital automation in engineering, which includes one complimentary attendance at a Society for Underwater Technology short course. You have to be someone who has demonstrated initiative during your studies and hopes to work in the subsea industry to qualify for this scholarship. You will use your programming talents to complement, automate, and enhance your subsea analysis and design work.
- The most deserving recipient of all three awards will receive the $2500 Chris Lawlor Scholarship.
- Five thousand dollar Marine Renewable Energy Scholarship will be awarded to you. You are eligible for this scholarship if you use your education, research, or professional goals to advance the field of marine renewable energy.
Qualification Critiria:
- To be eligible, you can’t work a full-time job during the first half of the next year.
- In 2025, you have to be granted authorization to advance to the final or second year of your degree program.
- You must be enrolled full-time in an Australian tertiary institution, either in the final two years of your undergraduate studies or in post-graduate study in semester 1 of the following year, to be considered for a scholarship.
- You need to be enrolled full-time in school to qualify for this scholarship.
- Scholarship recipients who work a full-time job are not eligible, however part-time work is permitted.
- You must be enrolled full-time at the university for the first semester of 2025 at the latest.
- Candidates for postgraduate studies should have enrolled in a postgraduate course linked to offshore engineering, marine science, or underwater technology and hold a first degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline.
