The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) has emphasized the need to involve stakeholders from developing nations and to utilize local knowledge and experience to enhance Internet governance capacity in these regions.
The UN Secretary-General has urged the IGF to further include underrepresented voices and promote inclusivity in its processes. To achieve this, a more interdisciplinary approach involving a wider range of specialists is deemed necessary.
The community has expressed a strong desire for greater diversity and inclusivity in the IGF’s participation range.
In support of these goals, the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is sponsoring a select number of qualified applicants from developing nations to attend the 19th annual conference of the IGF in Riyadh from December 15–19, 2024.
This support is made possible through the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s contribution to the IGF Global South Fund.

Qualification Requirements:
The Call will take into account assisting specific stakeholders that meet the following requirements:
- You must represent any collection of stakeholders.
- You must be from a landlocked developing nation, small island developing state, least developed nation, or economy in transition.
- Participate actively in the IGF 2024 process as co-organizers, speakers, moderators, rapporteurs, and volunteers.
- Show interest in initiatives about Internet governance.
- You must exhibit a clear dedication to giving back to the community following its participation in the IGF.
Important things to Note Before You Apply:
You will be assessed by the IGF Secretariat based on the eligibility requirements mentioned above. Applications that satisfy the first three formal requirements will be given more consideration.
The amount of money available would determine how many candidates were chosen.
Participants’ final demographics will be balanced by age, gender, area, and stakeholder status.
The IGF Secretariat may reach out to underrepresented stakeholders who match the eligibility requirements and contribute to the meeting’s diversity, offering to fund their attendance at the IGF 2024.
