The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has awarded two prestigious scholarships to the Bayreuth International Graduate School of African Studies (BIGSAS) as part of its Graduate School Scholarship Programme (GSSP).
These scholarships will be offered to promising candidates who will be recommended by BIGSAS upon successful completion of their application process.
BIGSAS’s exceptional PhD training program is built upon the strong foundation of the Institute of African Studies (IAS) at the University of Bayreuth and the Cluster of Excellence known as “Africa Multiple: Reconfiguring African Studies.”

Benefits of BIGSAS Scholarships:
You will be paid 1,200 euros as a monthly stipend
Contributions to personal liability, health, and accident insurance
Lump sum payment for travel (based on the country of origin)
A 460 euro annual research allowance
Rent subsidy per month
Allowance for accompanying family members each month (about 275 euros for marriage allowance; approximately 200 euros for each child)
A yearly payment of 1000 euros for material resources and supervision might also be given to the host graduate school.
Requirements:
A strong Master’s degree in one of the fields taught at the graduate school is required of applicants.
The last six years must have passed since earning the master’s degree.
You shouldn’t have spent more than a year in Germany.
The working language of BIGSAS is English, although applications can be made in French, German, or English.
